“Do not fear…” (Isaiah 43:1)

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine (Is. 43:1, NLT)

This passage is fairly straightforward in our understanding of not fearing. God, the one who formed and created each one of us tells us not to be afraid!

So beginning a new year, with a blank canvas, a fresh start, just under 365 days left to make this year better than last year, don’t let fear control you this year. Don’t let fear have any permanent place in your 2015. Instead, keep your focus on God. Where your focus is, your faith is. If your focus is on fear or your specific situation, then your faith will not be strong in the Lord. Instead, put your focus first on God.

Recognize that God is the one who created you for a purpose. Spend time thinking about the fact that God ransoms us; He pays our debt so that we don’t have to. He pays our debt so we can live a life free from the power of sin and live in freedom through faith in Jesus Christ.

God knows your name. He created you (Psalm 139:13) and knows the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). You are His. God can be your Heavenly Father, and He gives us the intimacy to call the Creator of the Universe our Abba, Father, our Daddy (Romans 8:15). So keep your focus on your Daddy, and do not let fear control your actions this year!
